Hello and welcome to my blog tour post for

I have a review of the book for you today! Be sure to check that out below. But first, let's learn more about the book...

Publication Date: February 26, 2019

Susan dreams of being an artist. Malcolm wants to move him and his sister out of a bad living situation. Sparks fly when the two teens meet at a fundraiser for Syrian refugees. A Canadian YA romance for fans of The Sun is Also a Star.

Susan is the new girl -- she's sharp and driven, and strives to meet her parents' expectations of excellence. Malcolm is the bad boy -- he started raising hell at age fifteen, after his mom died of cancer, and has had a reputation ever since.
Susan hasn't told anyone, but she wants to be an artist. Malcolm doesn't know what he wants -- until he meets her.
Love is messy and families are messier, but in spite of their burdens, Susan and Malcolm fall for each other. The ways they drift apart and come back together are testaments to family, culture, and being true to who you are.

Tanaz Bhathena was born in India and raised in Saudi Arabia and Canada. Her critically acclaimed novel A Girl Like That was nominated for the 2019 OLA White Pine Award and named a Best Book of 2018 by The Globe and Mail, CBC, Quill & Quire, Seventeen, PopSugar, and The Times of India among others. She is also the author of The Beauty of the Moment releasing on Feb 26 2019 and a fantasy duology called Hunted by the Sky, with the first book coming out in spring 2020. Her short stories have appeared in various journals including Blackbird, Witness and Room.

A wanderer at heart, Tanaz can often be found travelling to different countries, learning bits and pieces of a foreign language, and taking way too many photographs. She loves slapstick comedies and any kind of music that makes her dance. She lives in the Toronto area with her family.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book and chose to review it. This in no way impacts my opinion.

This was so good! It was a little slow to start but once it got going, I really enjoyed it. It looked at the trials and tribulations that immigrants have coming into Canada and I loved the realism to it.

The look at the new girl/bad boy relationship was actually really sweet and I loved seeing the nuances in culture, family, and relationships in general. Bhathena's writing is amazing, as always, and I highly recommend this.

I loved all the characters in this book. I really connected to their internal and external conflicts. Susan and Malcolm felt as though they were coming off the pages at some points because they were so well written. There was so much growth and changes throughout. This is definitely a character driven book!

I thought the beginning was a little slow, and there were some odd pacing moments, that took me out of the story. But Bhathena's prose and voice definitely makes up for it.

If you're looking for a fresh, contemporary novel, THE BEAUTY OF THE MOMENT is for you!
