Summary:

The Kendricks help make the problems of the Washington elite disappear…but some secrets won’t stay buried.

For Tess Kendrick, a junior at the elite Hardwicke School in Washington, D.C., fixing runs in the family. But Tess has another legacy, too, one that involves power and the making of political dynasties. When Tess is asked to run a classmate’s campaign for student council, she agrees. But when the candidates are children of politicians, even a high school election can involve life-shattering secrets.

Meanwhile, Tess’s guardian has also taken on an impossible case, as a terrorist attack calls into doubt who can—and cannot—be trusted on Capitol Hill. Tess knows better than most that power is currency in D.C., but she's about to discover firsthand that power always comes with a price.

I absolutely loved THE FIXER so I immediately purchased THE LONG GAME and then promptly didn't read it for two years. But that's okay because I read it now and I absolutely loved it! I love that this is basically Scandal for YA and the twists and turns were perfect.

I did think some of this was Convenient and Over The Top, but it was super fun. And to see some of the loose ends and character arcs from the last story come together in this one was !!!! But I'm so sad that this was the last one of the series and that no other books will be written because I NEED more. The politics, the stakes, the RELATIONSHIPS. I need more of all of it.

I think the best part of this is seeing girls hyping up other girls. I liked seeing Tess take up the opportunity to make sure her female classmates were treated the same way as her male ones. I loved how much Tess stands up for the "underdog" and makes sure that people get their due course. But I also felt like the storyline about the double standard and potential date rape was not given the attention it deserved. It went from this important discussion to another story line completely which was jarring and kind of disappointing.

Overall, I definitely recommend this series. Especially if you like Scandal or political dramas in general. I wish there was more coming but I am so happy for what we have gotten already!
