Author: Amity Hope
Series: The Rules of Persuasion
Publisher: Entangled: Crush
Publication Date: April 2, 2018
Rating: 4/5 stars

Summary:
1. Skinny dip (her idea)
2. Stargaze (his idea)
3. Prank someone (her idea)
4. Go on a date (his idea)

Leo Zimmerman has had a crush on his curvy friend Kylie Jenkins since forever, so when he discovers the girl with a flair for candy making has a newfound plan to rebel against her overbearing parents, he’s determined to be the one to help her carry it out. Who better than himself to show her the ropes of letting loose?

Sure, taking her to her first high school party, helping her sneak out of the house, or watching a sunset together isn’t exactly a hardship, but much harder is masking his feelings the more time they spend together. And when he suggests adding “a first date” to Kylie’s plan and she accepts…suddenly all his dreams seem to be coming true.

But Leo’s got a secret that could change everything between them, and it’s only a matter of time before it comes to the surface.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book and chose to review it. This in no way impacts my opinion.

I so enjoyed this book. The plot, the romance, the pacing. Everything about it was just wonderful to me. I liked seeing how everything evolved and I was angry (in a good way) and how the main conflict played out. If you want a good contemporary romance novel with a bit of angst, this is the book for you.

I loved Leo and Kylie's evolution from friends to more. I liked how they became more comfortable with each other and seeing each of them break out of their comfort zone. And it wasn't like they did it only because of each other - they did it because they wanted to, but were able to because of the other.

I would have liked a bit more from the female friendships and the sister relationships but they were still satisfying. I liked how everyone became closer even though Kylie was spending more time with Leo rather than drifting apart as usually is the case in books like this. It was nice to see everyone supporting branching out to having new relationships rather than being "disappointed" that they couldn't spend time together anymore.

I will say though that it was a little too straight for my liking. And I take issue with the fact that Kylie is described - both in the description and in the book - as being a little bit bigger but the cover has a very thin girl on it. It would be nice to have more fat representation that way. I know that it isn't the author's choice but I thought I would mention it anyway.

But it was super cute. I loved the conclusion and how it all came about. This is one of those books that resonates with you on every level and I definitely recommend it if you're a fan of contemporary romance novels.
