This was one of my #ARCAugust reads!
I really enjoyed this one. I probably would have given it more stars if I was okay with the romance, but I found myself a little ... creeped out by it. He was literally thousands of years older than her and I was not okay with them even attempting to pursue a relationship. At all.
I did like that Riley wasn't a fan of how Leander wanted to limit her and her ability to make her own choices. I thought the ending was a perfect reflection of this and I really approved of that.
I thought she should have trusted some people more and others less. I think there is going to be some conflict in the next book and I am really excited to see how Riley deals with being pulled in the direction of using her powers for good vs evil. Because I think she probably has a lot of ability and is going to be persuaded to use them for evil. I think she probably already has a stain on her that will mark her as not quite good but also not quite bad either.
Overall: 4/5 I thought the world building could use a little more but the characters were fairly well developed and the plot had me hooked from the first page!
