Susan is the new girl -- she's sharp and driven, and strives to meet her parents' expectations of excellence. Malcolm is the bad boy -- he started raising hell at age fifteen, after his mom died of cancer, and has had a reputation ever since.
Susan hasn't told anyone, but she wants to be an artist. Malcolm doesn't know what he wants -- until he meets her.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book and chose to review it. This in no way impacts my opinion.

This was so good! It was a little slow to start but once it got going, I really enjoyed it. It looked at the trials and tribulations that immigrants have coming into Canada and I loved the realism to it.

The look at the new girl/bad boy relationship was actually really sweet and I loved seeing the nuances in culture, family, and relationships in general. Bhathena's writing is amazing, as always, and I highly recommend this.

I loved all the characters in this book. I really connected to their internal and external conflicts. Susan and Malcolm felt as though they were coming off the pages at some points because they were so well written. There was so much growth and changes throughout. This is definitely a character driven book!

I thought the beginning was a little slow, and there were some odd pacing moments, that took me out of the story. But Bhathena's prose and voice definitely makes up for it.

If you're looking for a fresh, contemporary novel, THE BEAUTY OF THE MOMENT is for you!
