#Discussion: 2019 Reading Goals + TBR

I know that generally if I write out a TBR or reading goals or whatever, I don't stick to it. But I need to figure out what I have left on my outstanding piles and what I actually feel like reading, so post! My progress will be updated as I read more through the 2019 Reading Challenge widget embedded into this in terms of pure number, but I hope to have more update and progress reports for the goals I listed below!

2019 Reading Goals + TBR

2019 Reading Goals

2019 Reading Challenge

2019 Reading Challenge
Jamie (Books and Ladders) has read 13 books toward her goal of 150 books.
I am hoping to read 150 books this year! According to the Savvy Reader's 50 Book Pledge website, I'm on track to read 247, but I bet that will slow down as time goes on. At the time I'm writing this post, I have read 14 books. I am hoping to finish about 3 more before this post goes live but we shall see.

My hope for this year is to read...

  • Hopefully at least 55/78 of the NetGalley ARCs I currently have on my shelf. More is better but that is 70% of them!
  • Approximately 75 "Adult" novels, particularly Science Fiction and Fantasy books. I am trying to revive SFFFridays!
  • More diverse novels - I am trying to read 1:1 this year, while still reading off of my backlist titles and not purchasing too many new books.
  • At least 50 poetry collections. I read 39 last year and want to increase that little by little every year. Poetry adds so much to everyone's lives and I need more of it in mine.
  • The ending to series I have been putting off including CROOKED KINGDOM before the Netflix series comes out!
  • More pages than last year! I read 41,475 pages last year, but I want to read about the same amount that I read in 2015, 74,614.
    • Ideally I would hit the same amount as 2016 (107,135) but I don't think I will have enough time for that since I am working full time. So far, I am at 4,444 pages so I am on a pretty good pace for that.
  • Books outside my comfort zone. I tend to read a lot of YA, specifically Fantasy, so I would like to expand beyond that into more New Adult, Romance, Mystery, etc.

2019 TBR

These books are the ones I know FOR SURE I will get to because I am super excited to read them...

What are some of your reading goals this year?

  1. Oh my, I wish I could make the time to read as much as you are! I've never heard of any of the books on your TBR but I love YA fantasy so I may have to check them out!
