Five Vampire Novels You Should Check Out + MERCY BROWN by Tiki Kos

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

Vampire Academy is one series that I can say honestly gets better as it progresses. Each character grows through out the story and its great to see them develop into stronger and more capable people. I also love the female friendships in this series! I will say that if you don’t like cliffhangers than go into these books with caution because EVERY SINGLE ONE will tear your heart out until you can get your hands on the next.

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

How could I make a vampire novel list without the staple Twilight?! This was the series that really got me into reading, as I’m sure many other people can say the same. The major teenage angst and ridiculous tropes were actually very well done and entertaining. I’m definitely team Jacob though, can’t have Edward out sparkling me.

True Blood Series by Charlaine Harris

I haven’t personally read this series, but my Mom did, and she absolutely adored them! The relationships were well done, each character was loyal to their friends and family even when all hell was breaking lose. She recommends reading the series solely for Lafayette.

The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

Although not the MAIN focus of the book, vampires make a prominent appearance in this series. It does take each book a while to pick up the pace and get exciting but the world building and

plot development in this series is so well done and progresses at a great pace nonetheless. Not to mention, so many loveable characters!

The Coldest Girl in Cold Town by Holly Black

The overall concept of this book was what originally intrigued me. Vampires are known to the world and are locked up in 1 of 6 cities scattered across the USA called ‘Coldtowns’. These town are not only populated by Vampires, but also humans and people who are cold, meaning that they are infected by a bite but not yet turned but have a need for blood. After a party, she finds her ex-boyfriend Aidan is now cold and tied to a bed along with a century old Vampire named Gavriel. She decides that she is going to free them both and they are all going to make their way to the nearest Coldtown before Aiden fully changes.
