Summary:
How did Fox Mulder become a believer? How did Dana Scully become a skeptic? The X-Files Origins has the answers.

The X-Files Origins: Agent of Chaos explores the teen years of Fox Mulder, the beloved character depicted in the cult-favorite TV show The X-Files. His story is set in the spring of 1979, when serial murder, the occult, and government conspiracy were highlighted in the news.

The book will follow Mulder as he experiences life-changing events that set him on the path to becoming an FBI agent.

Don’t miss The X-Files Origins: Devil’s Advocate, by Jonathan Maberry, about 15-year-old Dana Scully.

It's no big secret that I am a huge fan of aliens and you know what started that obsession? The X-Files. So when I heard there was going to be a prequel story about both Fox Mulder and Dana Scully with Kami Garcia and Jonathan Maberry, I was really excited! I will have my review of DEVIL'S ADVOCATE, Scully's novel, up on here next week, but for now, here are my thoughts on AGENT OF CHAOS!

I really enjoyed this one! I think anyone who enjoys conspiracy theories, aliens, The X-Files, or just generally a good cop show will enjoy this one. I liked the characterizations and the consistency to the original story but I did have a few minor complaints.

This wrote sort of like an X-Files episode but wasn't quite the same. It feels like the same tone is there but some of the magic was missing. I think it was the fact that Mulder and Scully weren't together in this (although they were in spirit). I think that because it wasn't a serialized book for when the show was happening, it made this a lot more interesting than if they had tried to throw a book into the midst of the show timeline.

However, I'm not a fan of origin stories. I did like reading about Mulder and his original friend group and how he was always fighting against the system. I also liked seeing the "background" of how Mulder was being pulled into his eventual position.

I hope these books make more people watch the show -- which is probably my favourite TV show in the world. I think that if you are generally just a fan of procedural cop shows, conspiracy theories, and the aliens guy from the history channel, this is the book for you.
