ccChelsea is a twenty-something year old blogger from the mystical land that is Canada. She works hard as a web developer and graphic designer during the day and spends her night binge watching on Netflix and gaming (when she isn't reading of course!). She's been blogging for about three years and hopes to continue to do so! Her favourite post to write are discussion posts where she can interact with all of you! Her favourite book genre is fantasy and she reads any age group from middle grade to adult though young adult is the most common.

Hey everyone! I'm really excited to be a part of the We Can(anada) Read feature! I love how Jamie wanted people to feature Canadian authors on her blog because, let's be honest, they don't get nearly as much attention as American authors do. That's just how it is in Canada. Plus I'm sure tons of you have read lots of book by Canadian authors and you don't even know it! Today, I'm sharing my love of a new (to me) Canadian author. I only found her last year and then proceeded to read everything she had written up to that point. I just loved her that much. I only afterwards found out that she was Canadian! Go Canada! That author is:

Amanda Sun

If you've heard of her, then you'll know she wrote The Paper Gods Trilogy. For those who don't know her, you're about to learn! The Paper Gods Trilogy starts with Ink and follows Katie as she makes a huge move to Japan. This series focuses on Japanese mythology which immediately sucked me in. Those who know me know how much I LOVE my mythology books and this was no exception. The only difference was that Japanese mythology is not a common topic in YA right now so I was interested for sure.

These were huge cover buys for me. Looks at those covers!

Aren't they gorgeous?! Wouldn't you be proud to have those on your shelves? Since we're on the topic, here's the summary of the first book for your reading pleasure:

On the heels of a family tragedy, the last thing Katie Greene wants to do is move halfway across the world. Stuck with her aunt in Shizuoka, Japan, Katie feels lost. Alone. She doesn’t know the language, she can barely hold a pair of chopsticks, and she can’t seem to get the hang of taking her shoes off whenever she enters a building.

Then there’s gorgeous but aloof Tomohiro, star of the school’s kendo team. How did he really get the scar on his arm? Katie isn’t prepared for the answer. But when she sees the things he draws start moving, there’s no denying the truth: Tomo has a connection to the ancient gods of Japan, and being near Katie is causing his abilities to spiral out of control. If the wrong people notice, they'll both be targets. Katie never wanted to move to Japan—now she may not make it out of the country alive.

I bet you all want to pick this up now right? Good. Her newest book is called HEIR TO THE SKY and it was released earlier this year. I haven't read that one yet so I can't talk much about it but all the links to her novels will be done below for you to click on.

Anyways, thank you Jamie for hosting me today and I hope all you wonderful people have added a new author to your TBR lists!
I’m a YA author and proud Nerdfighter. I was born in Deep River, Canada, a very small town without traffic lights or buses, and where stranger safety is comprised of what to do if you see a bear—or skunk. I started reading fantasy novels at 4 and writing as soon as I could hold a pencil. Hopefully my work’s improved since then.
