2019 Reading Challenge: Reading Challenge Throwback #RCThrowback2019

It's that time of year again, we're all rushing to finish books so we hit our Goodreads Challenge and clean up any other reading challenges we committed to this year (like mine - that I definitely did not succeed at). But it's also a time when we look forward to the future: a new year, a fresh start, more reading challenges to sign up for and never finish! But I'm here to give you some redemption. My reading challenge this year is to do ... all the ones you never quite finished. Introducing...

Reading Challenge Throwback (#RCThrowback2019)

Maybe you DNFed a book that you probably would have finished but just didn't had time. Maybe you only had one more square to finish off that bingo. Maybe you never actually finished that series. And you're still feeling guilty. Well, no more! This reading challenge will help you finish off all those old ones so you can feel accomplished and in control of your life - and your TBR.

I know, big promises.

So how does it work?

Step 1: Find old blog posts, lists, Twitter promises, etc. in which you said "hey, I will totally do that reading challenge"
Step 2: Compile those books into one list
Step 3: Link that list to this post so we can help each other out
Step 4: Start reading!
Step 5: As you read, cross off those books on the old reading challenge
Step 6: Feel accomplished
Step 7: Get your TBR under control (Optional)
Step 8: Praise me (Also Optional)

I am only focusing on the last two reading challenges that I signed up for, even though I probably have about 20 that I never finished. I didn't want to overwhelm myself too much next year since I have been having a hard time keeping up with reading and blogging. I don't want to sign up for something I won't be able to complete (again).

  1. Jamie: I've got a question for you. The bulk of my challenge DNF's are quantity-driven. For instance, I signed myself up to read 5 books from a 1001 Books to Read Before You Die list in both 2016 and 2017 (and failed to read enough). But I don't list titles ahead of time. Is it okay to just list number of books to be read without listing titles?

    1. It can be just a number! A lot of the challenges I participate in have "categories" that I actually pick books for but if you just choose a number, that's okay too! I wanted to make it broad enough that anyone could participate and make sure that it could also apply to your Goodreads challenge too! Hope this helps and thanks for participating!

  4. That's a great idea. It looks like it could work in other locations as well, provided one could get enough volunteers to keep it up.
