A List of Books to Ask for from Santa

Hey guys! With the holiday season fast approaching, it is time to compile those lists of books you didn't get a chance to read or buy this year that you want to ask your friends, family, and Santa or the holiday gift giver of your choosing! I know some of these will be on my list as well, so I hope you find some good finds on here! Plus I'm giving away a copy of one of the books, so read to the bottom to find out which one.

Comment below if there are other books you would recommend people ask for during this holiday season!

WILD BEAUTY

Author: Anna-Marie McLemore
Series: N/A
Publisher: Feiwel and Friends
Publication Date: October 3, 2017
My Review!

Summary:
Love grows such strange things.

For nearly a century, the Nomeolvides women have tended the grounds of La Pradera, the lush estate gardens that enchant guests from around the world. They’ve also hidden a tragic legacy: if they fall in love too deeply, their lovers vanish. But then, after generations of vanishings, a strange boy appears in the gardens.

The boy is a mystery to Estrella, the Nomeolvides girl who finds him, and to her family, but he’s even more a mystery to himself; he knows nothing more about who he is or where he came from than his first name. As Estrella tries to help Fel piece together his unknown past, La Pradera leads them to secrets as dangerous as they are magical in this stunning exploration of love, loss, and family.

Why You Should Want It Under The Tree:

Beautiful, lyrical, and imaginative - those three words describe every book Anna-Marie McLemore has written and WILD BEAUTY is no exception. Bisexual characters are on the main stage and not shamed for it. Gay girls are allowed to love freely and the main characters are rich and full of depth. You will get sucked into the world and not want to leave. Plus, the cover is absolutely gorgeous!

SUMMER OF SUPERNOVAS

Why You Should Want It Under The Tree:

Probably one of my favourite contemporary novels I've read in a while tbh. I am a huge zodiac nerd and have my star chart pinned up on my cork board so having the main character in this one just as obsessed with finding someone who matches their star chart as me was amazing?? I just can't even describe how much I loved this. Woods writes a great main character and romance that you will fall head first into and be unsure how to get yourself out of.

PASHMINA

Author: Nidhi Chanani
Series: N/A
Publisher: FirstSecond
Publication Date: October 3, 2017
My Review!

Summary:
Pashmina tells the story of an Indian-American girl who struggles to fit in at high school, then discovers more about her family's history with the help of her mother's magical pashmina.
Purchase:

Why You Should Want It Under The Tree:

This is a graphic novel but looks at identity in such a unique way that I have been recommending it to everyone. First Second has been bringing out a lot of good graphic novels that deal with gender, identity, and being true to yourself, but PASHMINA is probably the only one that fits all three categories. You will fall in love with the idea of reality versus fantasy and that the grass may not always be greener on the other side. I really enjoyed this one and hope you will too!

A CROWN OF WISHES

Author: Roshani Chokshi
Series: The Star-Touched Queen #2
Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin
Publication Date: March 28, 2017
My Review!

Summary:
An ancient mystery. An unlikely union. For one young princess in a state of peril, a dangerous wish could be the only answer…

She is the princess of Bharata—captured by her kingdom’s enemies, a prisoner of war. Now that she faces a future of exile and scorn, Gauri has nothing left to lose. But should she trust Vikram, the notoriously cunning prince of a neighboring land? He promises her freedom in exchange for her battle prowess. Together they can team up and win the Tournament of Wishes, a competition held in a mythical city where the Lord of Wealth promises a wish to the victor. It seems like a foolproof plan—until Gauri and Vikram arrive at the tournament and find that danger takes on new shapes: poisonous courtesans, mischievous story birds, a feast of fears, and twisted fairy revels. New trials will test their devotion, strength, and wits. But what Gauri and Vikram will soon discover is that there’s nothing more dangerous than what they most desire.

Why You Should Want It Under The Tree:

Probably one of my favourite sequels, although it can be read as a standalone. Not as purple prose-y as THE STAR-TOUCHED QUEEN, I think this will appeal to those who enjoy riddles, love, and rooting for the underdogs. I definitely recommend both TSTQ and ACOW but I think you should definitely reading A CROWN OF WISHES.

INTERIM GODDESS OF LOVE

Author: Mina V. Esguerra
Series: Interim Goddess of Love #1
Publisher: Self-Published
Publication Date: April 21, 2012
My Review!

Summary:
College sophomore Hannah Maquiling doesn't know why everyone tells her their love problems. She's never even had a boyfriend, but that doesn't stop people from spilling their guts to her, and asking for advice. So maybe it shouldn't be a surprise when the cutest guy in school tells her that she's going to have to take on this responsibility -- but for all humanity.

The Goddess of Love has gone AWOL. It's a problem, because her job is to keep in check this world's obsession with love (and lack of it). The God of the Sun, for now an impossibly handsome senior at an exclusive college just outside of Metro Manila, thinks Hannah has what it takes to (temporarily) do the job.

While she's learning to do this goddess thing, she practices on the love troubles of shy Kathy, who's got a secret admirer on campus. Hannah's mission, should she choose to accept it, is to make sure that he's not a creepy stalker and they find their happily ever after -- or at least something that'll last until next semester. (As if she could refuse! The Sun God asked so nicely. And he's so, well, hot.)

O.M.G. I read this for 12 Days of Diversity last Christmas and can't stop thinking about it. It is very very very rare for me to love a book so much that I think about it a year after I read it, but HERE WE ARE. A contemporary retelling, the series is a combined 600 pages total (if that), so you can speed through it. Character growth, a swoonworthy romance, and just general sweetness in this one, so you'll be sure to enjoy it!

THE ALCHEMISTS OF LOOM

Author: Elise Kova
Series: Loom Saga #1
Publisher: Keymaster Press
Publication Date: January 10, 2017
My Review!

Summary:
Her vengeance. His vision.

Ari lost everything she once loved when the Five Guilds’ resistance fell to the Dragon King. Now, she uses her unparalleled gift for clockwork machinery in tandem with notoriously unscrupulous morals to contribute to a thriving underground organ market. There isn’t a place on Loom that is secure from the engineer turned thief, and her magical talents are sold to the highest bidder as long as the job defies their Dragon oppressors.

Cvareh would do anything to see his sister usurp the Dragon King and sit on the throne. His family’s house has endured the shame of being the lowest rung in the Dragons’ society for far too long. The Alchemist Guild, down on Loom, may just hold the key to putting his kin in power, if Cvareh can get to them before the Dragon King’s assassins.

When Ari stumbles upon a wounded Cvareh, she sees an opportunity to slaughter an enemy and make a profit off his corpse. But the Dragon sees an opportunity to navigate Loom with the best person to get him where he wants to go.

He offers her the one thing Ari can’t refuse: A wish of her greatest desire, if she brings him to the Alchemists of Loom.

Why You Should Want It Under The Tree:

THE ALCHEMISTS OF LOOM is the newest series by Elise Kova, who wrote the AIR AWAKENS series that I typically recommend. However, this has infinitely more dragons so that makes it better. Plus, it is a YA-Adult crossover and has steampunk elements so it ticks off a lot of boxes. The last book in the series, THE REBELS OF GOLD, releases on December 5th so you could ask for the whole series at once and spend Christmas day binge reading the whole shebang.
But I'm here to help you check off your Christmas wishlist! You can win a little prize pack below. Because I love y'all and I have not been as proactively blogging this year as in the past so I want to show you how much I love you.
