This one was pretty good. I enjoyed the plot and the suspense. I think I am done with detective/mystery novels for a bit though.

I was on the edge of my seat for the majority of the book and the plot was so well written and everything intertwined perfectly. I thought that there could have been more clues for the reader to be able to guess the killer. It is always fun when it feels a bit more "interactive" for lack of a better term there. But nonetheless, the plot was good and kept you guessing.

I liked Helen. She was complex and had many flaws which made her into a real character, but I thought she sometimes came off as being too perfect of a detective. She never seemed to have too much trouble with the case and the reader was told she was given some "special" treatment because she didn't want or have a family at home. I understand that this is the way of the world, but I feel like I wanted Helen to acknowledge it.

I didn't like the changing points of view that followed everyone around. I thought it detracted a bit from the story. I do like when it flips from the investigator to the killer, but I thought the change between that many different characters was too much for the story. One or two is more than enough for this type of story.

I was disheartened by the ending but I am glad that this was the choice made by the characters and the author. I am excited to see where it will go from here for Helen and her crew since it is a series. I will probably be following the rest of the series.

Overall: Somewhere between a 3.5 and a 4/5 stars.
