Growing up in Canada with her nose stuck in a book, Alice has always had a love for reading. With a love for fantasy and romance, she grabs anything she can get her hands on. When at home you can find her snuggled on the couch with a blanket and a good book. Alice will spend hours talking to you about Harry Potter, Kelley Armstrong, or her puppy, Luna.

When I heard that Jamie was hosting We Can(ada) Read for the month of September, I jumped at the chance to flail and gush about my favourite Canadian author: Kelley Armstrong.

The first time I read a Kelley Armstrong novel was in 2008 when I picked up The Summoning. When I started reading this novel I honestly could not put it down. This was the first time in my memory when I wanted to read, no, needed to read so bad that I didn’t even want to stop reading while driving. It took all of my willpower to not pick up the book at red lights and continue reading until the light turned green. (Note to all readers: DO NOT READ WHILE DRIVING). I read until I finished this novel and then devoured everything else Kelley Armstrong had written at that point. She quickly became my favourite author as nothing I had read had let me down.

When I found out that KA was coming to my public library to do a reading and a signing in 2008, it was the best day of my life. I was literally shaking and bouncing in my seat I was so excited. I have now met her 3 times and she is such a kind, wonderful author. The last time I saw her she signed all of my books that hadn’t been signed previously. That number equaled 25 books and she signed all of them without complaint and was happy to do it.

Not only is Kelley gracious, she is also very giving. She is constantly hosting giveaways on her facebook page, be it for an advance copy of a book, t-shirts that she made for her books, that kind of thing. I have won an ARC of The Masked Truth that came out last October and a t-shirt from these contests that she holds. Not only contests, but at every signing I've seen her at, if they're close to her hometown, she gives away shirts, books, bookmarks, bags. I have never met such a giving author.

One of the things I love most about Kelley Armstrong is that I rarely ever have to wait for a book. There are times where Kelley comes out with multiple books and we get 3 or more books a year. I am rarely going through KA withdrawals. I also love the variety of her novels as some are fantasy, some mystery and also romance. I have never read any other author that has been so diverse in what they write than Kelley Armstrong. It doesn't matter what mood you're in, there is always a KA book for you.

After reading my post (gushing) about how much I love Kelley Armstrong, I really hope you’ll consider giving her a shot if you haven’t already, as not only is she a fantastic writer, she’s a fantastic Canadian writer. I have never loved an authors books as much as I’ve loved KA’s and if you love them half or even one quarter as much as me, or even not at all, I’d love to talk to you and see your thoughts and opinions!

I hope you have enjoyed my post and I’d like to send out a HUGE thank you to Jamie for hosting such a wonderful event.

Kelley Armstrong has been telling stories since before she could write. Her earliest written efforts were disastrous. If asked for a story about girls and dolls, hers would invariably feature undead girls and evil dolls, much to her teachers’ dismay. Today, she continues to spin tales of ghosts and demons and werewolves, while safely locked away in her basement writing dungeon. She lives in southwestern Ontario with her husband, kids and far too many pets.
