Top Ten Tuesday (12): Ten 2016 Debuts I Need NOW

01 December 10 Comments
Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish.
--
This is broken up into two lists. The first is books I am DYING to read in 2016 and is limited to 10. The second is a list of all the 2016 debuts I have received as ARCs and have either read or will be reading this month. If you want to see all the 2016 debuts I want to read, you can click here to go to my Goodreads shelf! I'm going to try to do a mix of genres so that they aren't all under one category. Are y'all ready for this?

The Love That Split The World
Author: Emily Henry
Publisher: Razorbill
Publication Date: January 26, 2015
Summary:
Natalie Cleary must risk her future and leap blindly into a vast unknown for the chance to build a new world with the boy she loves.

Natalie’s last summer in her small Kentucky hometown is off to a magical start... until she starts seeing the “wrong things.” They’re just momentary glimpses at first—her front door is red instead of its usual green, there’s a pre-school where the garden store should be. But then her whole town disappears for hours, fading away into rolling hills and grazing buffalo, and Nat knows something isn’t right.

That’s when she gets a visit from the kind but mysterious apparition she calls “Grandmother,” who tells her: “You have three months to save him.” The next night, under the stadium lights of the high school football field, she meets a beautiful boy named Beau, and it’s as if time just stops and nothing exists. Nothing, except Natalie and Beau.

Emily Henry’s stunning debut novel is Friday Night Lights meets The Time Traveler’s Wife, and perfectly captures those bittersweet months after high school, when we dream not only of the future, but of all the roads and paths we’ve left untaken.

Consider
Author: Kristy Acevedo
Series: HoloSeries #1
Publisher: Jolly Fish Press
Publication Date: April 19, 2016
Summary:
As if Alexandra Lucas’ anxiety disorder isn’t enough, mysterious holograms suddenly appear from the sky, heralding the end of the world. They bring an ultimatum: heed the warning and step through a portal-like vertex to safety, or stay and be destroyed by a comet they say is on a collision course with earth. How’s that for senior year stress?

The holograms, claiming to be humans from the future, bring the promise of safety. But without the ability to verify their story, Alex is forced to consider what is best for her friends, her family, and herself.

To stay or to go. A decision must be made.

With the deadline of the holograms’ prophecy fast approaching, Alex feels as though she is living on a ticking time bomb, until she discovers it is much, much worse.

Top Ten Tuesday (10): Ten Book Habits I Need To Quit

06 October 4 Comments
Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists at The Broke and the Bookish. They'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and LOVE to see other top ten lists!
So guys this week is all about bad habits that revolve around books. I actually had a hard time coming up with 10 because I'm pretty perfect (lol) but I enlisted help and came up with quite a few that I'm sure a lot of people do.

Buying more books when I have so many sitting unread on my shelves
I don't think you guys understand my problem though. I have the actual BookOutlet here in my town (well 30 minutes away but still that's basically in my town) and I can literally go buy cheap ass books all the time. How could I NOT spend my money there all the time?

Making a TBR list for the month and then reading every book but those on my list
Surprisingly, I have done okay on this front the past couple months. I've read everything that I had to and more! Although I am a little behind on books I need to read for blog tours, but I'm working through them.

This week's TTT is all about book recommendations based on something so I decided to do it based on my top ten books of this year (so far). I will tell you what book it resembles and why I think that. It'll look like this:
SUPER POPULAR BOOK --> BOOK I RECOMMEND YOU READ NEXT
So get ready for some awesome book recommendations! And, as always, you can hit me up for more if you have read all these and/or want more!

1. Kick Ass Heroine Who Takes No Shit But Falls In Love
THRONE OF GLASS by Sarah J. Maas  --> A SCHOOL FOR UNUSUAL GIRLS by Kathleen Baldwin
Throne of Glass is one of those staple books that everyone seems to love. But I think A School For Unusual Girls is going to be something even better. I thought that there were some parts of ASFUG that were tedious and overdone, but it was still such a good read and I cannot wait to see where the series is going to go from here! You can read my full review!

The Weight of Feathers
Author: Anna-Marie McLemore

Publisher: Griffin Teen
Publication Date: September 15, 2015
Summary:
For twenty years, the Palomas and the Corbeaus have been rivals and enemies, locked in an escalating feud for over a generation. Both families make their living as traveling performers in competing shows—the Palomas swimming in mermaid exhibitions, the Corbeaus, former tightrope walkers, performing in the tallest trees they can find.

Lace Paloma may be new to her family’s show, but she knows as well as anyone that the Corbeaus are pure magia negra, black magic from the devil himself. Simply touching one could mean death, and she's been taught from birth to keep away. But when disaster strikes the small town where both families are performing, it’s a Corbeau boy, Cluck, who saves Lace’s life. And his touch immerses her in the world of the Corbeaus, where falling for him could turn his own family against him, and one misstep can be just as dangerous on the ground as it is in the trees.

Why I'm Excited For It: This book was perfect in every sense of the word. It was lyrical and magical and had everything that you wanted and more. But I am going to reread the shit out of it because I cannot get enough.

Top Ten Tuesday (7): Top Ten Books I Want For My Birthday!

15 September 4 Comments
Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists at The Broke and the Bookish. They'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and LOVE to see other top ten lists!
It's a freebie week and since it is my birthday on Thursday, I went with the TOP TEN BOOKS I WANT FOR MY BIRTHDAY. Which is actually pretty selfish of me. Remember, TOMORROW my birthday giveaways end so make sure you enter all four of them (or three if you don't live in Canada). And now, onward to the books I want.

1. Ice Kissed and Crystal Kingdom by Amanda Hocking.
SummaryIn the majestic halls of a crystal palace lies a secret that could destroy an entire kingdom…

Bryn Aven refuses to give up on her dream of serving the kingdom she loves. It’s a dream that brings her to a whole new realm…and the glittering palace of the Skojare.

The Skojare people need protection from the same brutal enemy that’s been threatening the Kanin, and Bryn is there to help. Being half Skojare herself, it’s also a chance for her to learn more about her lost heritage. Her boss, Ridley Dresden, is overseeing her mission, but as their undeniable attraction heats up, their relationship is about to reach a whole new level—one neither of them is prepared for.

As they delve deeper into the Skojare world, they begin to unravel a long-hidden secret. The dark truth about her own beloved Kanin kingdom is about to come to light, and it will change her place in it forever…and threaten everyone she loves.

2. Tokyo Ghoul Volume 1 & Volume 2 by Sui Ishida.

Summary
Shy Ken Kaneki is thrilled to go on a date with the beautiful Rize. But it turns out that she’s only interested in his body—eating it, that is. When a morally questionable rescue transforms him into the first half-human half-Ghoul hybrid, Ken is drawn into the dark and violent world of Ghouls, which exists alongside our own.

Top Ten Tuesday (6): Ten Finished Series I Have YET to Finish AKA Let's See How Behind I Am In Reading

08 September 2 Comments
Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists at The Broke and the Bookish. They'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and LOVE to see other top ten lists!
Okay so I do this thing sometimes (a lot) where I read all the books in the series except for the last one because I don't want to let the series go. So let's look at my shame and the books that I have not read yet.
--
1. The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini.
Books Unread: Inheritance (Book 4/4)
Why? I wanted to get this in paperback to match the rest of my series and then once I did, I realized I had to reread the rest of the series to be able to read this one and... I just never had time for a reread.
--
2. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
Books Unread: Days of Blood and Starlight (2/3) | Night of Cake & Puppets (2.5/3) | Dreams of Gods and Monsters (3/3)
Why? I was not a fan of the first novel in this and have decided I will not be continuing with the series. *Note: This is not the only series that this has happened to. Others include Anomaly, His Fair Assassin, and Zom-B*
